K1 (Ages 4–5)
Phonics & Early Reading Foundations

Strong Foundations for Early Reading

Our K1 programme is designed for children who are beginning structured literacy learning and is ideal for families seeking a phonics class in Marine Parade. Following a clear, MOE-relevant progression, we build essential foundations through phonemic awareness (hearing and working with sounds), systematic phonics instruction for letter–sound relationships, and early blending and segmenting to read simple words with confidence.

Lessons also strengthen oral language through storytelling, guided speaking routines, and vocabulary building so children can understand instructions and express ideas more clearly. As children develop early reading readiness, we introduce age-appropriate handwriting habits such as correct pencil grip, letter formation, and basic spacing.

By the end of K1, learners typically show stronger listening, better sound awareness, and improved decoding readiness—important steps toward fluent reading in K2 and Primary 1.
